Vibration Analysis(VA)

VIBRATION ANALYSIS

VIBRATION ANALYSIS (VA) utilizes the science of monitoring vibration patterns of motors, pumps, any operating equipment or environment to detect healthy and unhealthy vibrational patterns. Vibration analysis allows the user to evaluate the condition of equipment and avoid failures. Maintenance personnel can minimize unplanned downtime by scheduling needed repairs during normal maintenance shutdowns. Vibration Analysis is mainly used in the detection of the rotating equipment problems like imbalance, bent shaft, misalignment, soft foot, looseness through the study of the vibration coming from the equipment due to the problems. It is used to study bearing problems, gear box problems, etc.

Interpretation of vibration data by skilled TOMTEC technicians accurately interprets many things about the condition of an asset. TOMTEC can perform regular vibration analysis of plant equipment as part of a preventive maintenance programme, or as part of a Root Cause Analysis service to determine the cause of a machine problem.

Hardness Testing (HT)

HARDNESS TESTING

HARDNESS TESTING (HT) is today one of the most frequently employed methods for mechanical material testing, in particular for metals. On the one hand, this test method allows qualitative relationships to other material properties (e.g. strength, rigidity, density) or to the behavior of the materials under certain loads (e.g. wear resistance) to be established. Hardness testing of metals is frequently required by specifications to help determine properties such as abrasive resistance, brittleness, ductility, yield and tensile strength.

The hardness test is comparatively quick and simple to perform and causes relatively little damage to the specimen, i.e. only very minor marks are left on the specimen surface. It also provides a simple method for quality control (incoming goods and outgoing goods inspection). The hardness test method also allows a wide variety of geometries to be tested.

Our hardness methods include: Barcol Hardness,Leeb Hardness,Vicker hardness and Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) hardnes.

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)

PHASED ARRAY ULTRASONIC TESTING

PHASED ARRAY ULTRASONIC TESTING (PAUT) typically consists of a transducer assembly with from 16 to as many as 256 small individual elements that can each be pulsed separately. These may be arranged in a strip (linear array), a ring (annular array), a circular matrix (circular array), or a more complex shape. As is the case with conventional transducers, phased array probes may be designed for direct contact use, as part of an angle beam assembly with a wedge, or for immersion use with sound coupling through a water path.

Remote Field Testing (RFT)

REMOTE FIELD TESTING

REMOTE FIELD TESTING (RFET) is an electromagnetic examination, which utilizes a through-transmission process. The resultant field is affected by either ID or OD tube wall anomalies. RFT signal measurements are made a few tube diameters away from the excitation coil without any attempt at tube wall magnetization or saturation. A pair of pick-up coils located in the remote field zone measures the resultant field to give both a differential and an absolute signal. The signal phase and amplitude information are used to determine defect depth and volume.

Remote Field is a technique used for the inspection of tubes made of ferrous materials, like Carbon steel and Chrome-Molybdenum.

At TOMTEC, we ensure that all our technicians are competent and certified to internationally recognized standards. TOMTEC performs Remote Field Testing (RFT) to provide you with an accurate assessment of the condition of your assets.
